Primrose Prep was founded by Rachel Couffignals, an Oxford-educated British preparatory-school educator and former Head of Lower School and Head of Gifted & Talented at one of the UK’s leading independent preparatory schools.
Rachel brings to Primrose Prep the academic rigour, structured teaching and high expectations that define the best of British independent education. Few educators combine this depth of British Independent-school experience with first-hand understanding of the UAE schooling landscape. Primrose Prep was established to offer families in the UAE access to specialist British independent-school academic guidance and tutoring of this kind.
Following her move to the UAE, Rachel sought to maintain for her own children the pace, depth and expectations they had experienced within the UK independent-school system. Drawing on her years of teaching and leadership experience, she began to extend and supplement their education to ensure continuity and academic momentum.
Today, Rachel leads the academic direction of Primrose Prep — advising families, setting teaching standards and personally selecting tutors whose work reflects the clarity, structure and academic ambition associated with strong British independent school education.
Primrose Prep supports families seeking thoughtful, academically ambitious education shaped by genuine British independent-school standards.
We focus on developing clarity of thought, strong academic foundations and intellectual confidence — enabling pupils to progress securely and with purpose.
Alongside private tuition, Primrose Prep can also provide broader educational guidance for families seeking continuity with British independent-school expectations, including homeschool support, curriculum extension, academic planning and carefully guided progression.
In many British independent schools, pupils work ahead of age-related expectations in core subjects, allowing time not only to cover material, but to revisit, deepen understanding and develop genuine academic confidence in preparation for competitive senior-school entry.
Pupils are supported by a small, carefully selected group of UK-based tutors with experience across the British independent-school sector, each chosen personally by Rachel.
Rachel offers discreet, appointment-only advisory for parents who want strategic insight into their child’s academic pathway. Drawing on her experience in leading British independent schools, she helps families understand school expectations, evaluate current progress, and determine the right academic pathway.
Each advisory session provides clear next steps — whether selecting an appropriate tutor, planning an academic pathway, supporting a high-potential learner, reviewing home school provision, extending beyond standard curriculum expectations, or preparing for UK re-entry or competitive senior-school pathways — all aligned with genuine British independent-school standards.
For some families, advisory may also include long term academic oversight, including home school curriculum guidance, educational planning and ongoing progression review.
For families seeking discreet guidance on academic pathways or the British independent-school landscape, advisory is available by appointment only.
